Painting n°1: Katy Perry

This is not my first painting. To say the truth, I started painting on the 4th of September 2009 with a portrait of my mother (she had been asking me for a drawing for months) and on the following day tried a painting of Skye Sweetnam. My Katy Perry painting was made on a sunday, the 6th of September.


I looked on the Internet for a picture that I liked, and printed it in black and white. This is the way I always proceed.

The colors for skin and hair are based upon the real colors on the photo. But for clothes and things appearing on it, I usually chose the colors and change them.


I spent 3 hours on this drawing. I was fast at that time, while now I usually spend at least 10 hours (more than 20 hours for my Kelly Clarkson painting of november). I really like this one, even though I think the skin is too pale:
