Painting n°4: Aly & AJ

Aly & AJ Michalka, now known as 78Violet, were done separetly for this painting. I first worked on an Aly portrait, and then on the AJ one.

I started AJ in September, before going back to school. The beginning of the painting was done during a week, but then it took me 2 more to finish it.

I spent 7 hours on it, mostly because I changed her skin & hair color many times.

I wanted a photo for both that looked cute and recent. So I used pictures from events as a basis.



Aly was done way before AJ. I must say that I like my AJ painting more than this one, cause I think it looks more like her.

Aly's eyes were pretty cool to do. I like how they look like "cat eyes". Her mouth was fun too. But her hair... lol

I spent 5 hours on this painting. i believe what took me more time on the AJ painting than on this one is AJ's hand. Here Aly doesn't show her hands.

Croquis n°1: Disneyland Paris

Different article from the others, it's about sketches. At school, I use some small writing pads to take notes, and I always do a drawing on the cover. The image I'm representing is generally a photo I have taken with my mobile. Let me show you with pictures what I'm talking about...

For the first one, I decided to represent the castle from Disneyland Paris, where I went this summer.


On the original photo, you can see that the right side of the castle is missing. I simply represented the left side twice :)

For the second note pad, I decided to do the front of a shop I saw also in Disneyland Paris, and that I thought was really cute. I changed a little the point of view and made a closer look:

Painting n°3: Skye Sweetnam

This Skye Sweetnam painting was made in october 2009 on a cotton canvas in order to be sent to Skye Sweetnam herself.

I wanted a special photo, and found the serie done on her 19th birthday with the chocolate cake. At first I wasn't sure which photo I would represent. I was a little disappointed during the process cause I thought my painting didn't look like her. And I was right, till the moment I changed her hair color from black to pink.

This was the second Skye Sweetnam painting I did. The idea of sending it to her came to me after she commented my August Speed Drawing.

It's one of my favorite paintings so far and i received lots of good comments on it from friends & family. You can see it full view on Deviantart:

No "Speed Painting" video for this one, as it took me more than 2 weeks to do it...

Painting n°2: Alexz Johnson

This is probably my least favorite painting so far. I don't like how it came out, there's something on her face... Ok, in fact I want all my drawings/paintings to be perfect, so I'll always find something that I don't like :DI've always liked Alexz Johnson. I think she's a great singer and musician and I'll sure be buying her first record when it comes out.
This was the first painting I made representing a blonde girl. At first I thought it would be pretty hard to do but in fact no. This one took me four hours. Somebody even asked me if he could buy it lol But I'm not selling my drawings for now.

Painting n°1: Katy Perry

This is not my first painting. To say the truth, I started painting on the 4th of September 2009 with a portrait of my mother (she had been asking me for a drawing for months) and on the following day tried a painting of Skye Sweetnam. My Katy Perry painting was made on a sunday, the 6th of September.


I looked on the Internet for a picture that I liked, and printed it in black and white. This is the way I always proceed.

The colors for skin and hair are based upon the real colors on the photo. But for clothes and things appearing on it, I usually chose the colors and change them.


I spent 3 hours on this drawing. I was fast at that time, while now I usually spend at least 10 hours (more than 20 hours for my Kelly Clarkson painting of november). I really like this one, even though I think the skin is too pale:
